15th Annual

“For the Love of Family” Gala

Presented by the HomeSteaders auxiliary

of Family HomeStead

The HomeSteaders of Family HomeStead proudly presented the 15th Annual For the Love of Family fundraising gala, on February 6, 2010.  This year’s event honored, and recognized for their vision, the Founding Mothers who created HomeSteaders 16 years ago and Mayor John Hickenlooper for his efforts to raise awareness and end homelessness in Denver.

Our Biggest Night Ever!

The 2010 gala was a huge success, raising over $70,000 for Family HomeStead, nearly doubling the amount raised in 2009.  This was achieved by the efforts of all of the volunteers and our generous sponsors and donors.  The number of sponsors was increased in 2010 to eleven for the event in addition to three underwriters.  The increase numbers of sponsors contributed to the incredible attendance that we received, doubling our number of guests from 2009 to over 225.

Details of the Evening!

The evening began with a reception and silent auction in the West Atrium of the Museum where over 100 items were up for auction.  This years offerings included a trip to Costa Rica, nights on the town, an autographed basketball by Chauncey Billups, and beautiful jewelry by Tender Loving Carats as we were serenaded by the  talents of our volunteer pianist Scott Schwab and couples partook in exploring the private exhibit and photo booth to mark the occasion.

The evening continued as guests explored the Space Odyssey exhibit as they transitioned to the South Atrium for an elegant dinner buffet, followed by the award presentation to the Founding Mothers and our Honorable Chair, Mayor Hickenlooper.    The evening finished with the auctioneer, Shawn Hagler, taking the stage to auction such wonderful items as a trip to England and African Wine and Photo Safari then getting the audience to open their hearts with straight donations.  One generous guest made a $10,000 donation, followed by another supporter donating $5,000.

It was through the wonderful efforts and long hours of our volunteers and wonderful sponsors and guest that we were able to achieve our dream goal in 2010 and the

HomeSteaders would like to thank all the individuals who made this possible!
