The HomeSteaders Board 

Current President: 

NINA.jpg  Nina O'Kelley - Dedicated to helping her clients buy and sell their homes, Nina extends her energy and enthusiasm to volunteering for HomeSteaders.  O’Kelley was introduced to Family HomeStead by painting an apartment for a new family in emergency housing.  She keeps her finger on the pulse of the city through other involvement with City Club of Denver, Institute for International Education, Lower Downtown Neighborhood Association among others. Planning to pedal from Canada to Mexico, Nina enjoys bicycling and traveling with her husband.

Immediate Past President: 

Sandee(1).jpg  Sandra Walling - Sandra has been a member of the HomeSteaders for 7 years.  She acted as recording secretary and president for 2 terms.  Ms. Walling has enjoyed the entire experience and plans on continuing to be a part of the organization.  She is also on 10 non profit boards and is active in volunteerism in the community.

VP Membership:

Miki.jpg  Miki Miller - Miki is an Investment Consultant for Charles Schwab and has been in the finance industry for over twelve years.  She began her volunteer service as a workday supervisor for Family HomeStead paint-a-unit volunteer program and after a short leave of absence rededicated her volunteer efforts by joining the HomeSteaders board in 2008 and co-chairing the annual “For the Love of Family” fundraising gala for 2009 and 2010.  Miki enjoys gathering with friends and hiking in her spare time.

Secretary: 

Leah.jpg  Leah Langerman - Leah became involved with Family HomeStead in 2002, while choosing a local non-profit for her company to support.  Leah is an Associate at David Evans and Associates, Inc., and has spearheaded DEA's continual involvement with Family HomeStead through adopt-a-family gifts and work days.  Leah joined the HomeSteaders Board in 2008 and has co-chaired the "For the Love of Family" gala for the last two years.  Leah enjoys traveling, camping and hiking with her husband, and spends her spare time creating a variety of arts and crafts.

Treasurer: 

ShannonJones(1).jpg  Shannon Jones - Shannon is a Senior Vice President for FirstBank of Denver, and has been employed with FirstBank since 1997.  She is currently the treasurer for the HomeSteaders, and sits on the board for Environmental Learning for Kids (ELK) where she serves on the finance committee and assists the organization with its budgets.  Additionally, she is a member of the Colorado Women's Chamber of Commerce and she is the co-president for the Zion Temple Youth Department.

Family HomeStead Director of Volunteers and Development: 

Judy.jpg  Judy Mugler - Judy has spent most of her working life in the non-profit sector. Her experience includes 28 years in volunteer management and 17 years in development, the majority of that time spent at Family HomeStead. Serving as the staff liaison to HomeSteaders, she actively supports their fundraising, service, and educational events. In her spare time, Judy enjoys travel, music, reading, and walking. Her favorite outside-of-work activities usually involve her grandchildren.

Web Site Manager: 

Irina.jpg  Irina Lewis - Irina joined the HomeSteaders Board in 2002, acting as Treasurer though 2006 and is now managing the website and co-chairing the annual gala.  In her business and personal life, Irina works as a channel marketing and sales director, specializing in partner enablement and sales support in the high tech industry.  She enjoys mountain biking, skiing, and hiking.

Bare Necessities Chair: 

Amy(1).jpg  Amy Palcso - Amy is new to the HomeSteaders Board.  She is currently acting as the Bare Necessities Chair, helping to collect and organize supplies needed by Family HomeStead families.  Amy’s professional experience is in business development and entrepreneurial ventures.  In her personal life, she enjoys spending time with her family, wakeboarding, snow skiing and cooking.

Members at Large: 

Kirsin McMullen   Kirstin McMullen - Kirstin is new to the HomeSteaders Board.  She works as an Analyst for Anadarko Petroleum.  She began her volunteer service with Family Homestead 5 years ago by coordinating the Holiday Adopt-a-Family program through her company and participating in the Paint-a-Unit work days.  Kirstin likes to travel, read and practice yoga in her spare time.

JodiBurnett   Jodi Burnett - Jodi is new to the HomeSteaders Board.  She is currently a Member at Large and will volunteer with various projects as needed.  She is passionate about volunteering and supporting various charities in the Denver area and is especially excited to work closely with Family Homestead.  Jodi is an Investment Consultant with Charles Schwab and has been with Schwab since 1999.   She is a native of Colorado and enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, stepsons and daughter. 

Open Positions:

  • Public Relations Chair – Disseminate press releases, write brief articles and help to get HomeSteaders and Family HomeStead in the news.
  • Member at Large – Attend board meetings and help out as needed throughout the year.
